30til30: Day 6

I have 30 days until I turn 30, so I thought I'd try to choose 30 moments that have helped shape who I am and want to be. Coming up with the list has been challenging...and enlightening. These are in no particular order.

6: When I realized that Kelly Lundberg was going to be one of my best friends.

I remember when Kelly entered our lives. It was full of scandal, to be honest. Everyone was all, "Who IS this? She's dating AARON?" It was rough on some people to see Aaron come off the market. What a funny time. I just remember thinking she was kind of shy (WRONG), and I felt bad for her because no one really talked to her all that much. I can't pinpoint the exact moment our friendship began, but I do know that it has become stronger every day. What Kelly has taught me:
  • Family comes first.
  • You are never too busy to make time for your friends.
  • Motherhood is the most awesome adventure.
  • How to truly serve people: from friends to strangers (she gets that from her Dad).
  • Have fun with the things that annoy you.
  • How to make your house into a beautiful home.
  • How to take a party from "Meh" to "holycrapthisisawesome."
  • What a real friend looks like.
  • Oh...and rap and hip-hop isn't all bad.
How it shaped me:
  • My iTunes is ... let's just say "diverse."
  • I am in love with her children and I would do probably anything for them.
  • Kelly helps me release stress and anxiety. Being around her has mellowed me out big time. She just...helps me "deal."
  • I have some really great "how to raise kids" tricks up my sleeve thanks to her. My kids are going to be shaped because of her.
  • I can't fully express how much Kelly's friendship has changed my life. All I know is that I would not be where I am right now if she hadn't thought Aaron was "so hot" when she first showed up at Grace (I mean, she probably still does, but whatever).

I love that you feel this way towards her. It is amzing when you see what others appreciate about your spouse. Seriously though....the itunes mix thing....my life has totally changed, especially with our "dance offs" around the house!
