30til30: Day 8

I have 30 days until I turn 30, so I thought I'd try to choose 30 moments that have helped shape who I am and want to be. Coming up with the list has been challenging...and enlightening. These are in no particular order.

8: Brent and Jenn Campbell.

Brent and Jenn were by my side through one of the most difficult things I've ever had to endure. I'm not sure why Dave and I clung so tightly to them, we just did. Jenn was always checking in on me and asking how things were going through our entire courtship. They, more than anyone else, truly helped us establish a firm foundation for marriage. The Campbells were wonderful mentors and beautiful friends. I'm so sad that they moved back to Chattanooga. What I miss about their friendship:
  • An unending stream of wisdom.
  • Brent's unwavering hope in God's sovereignty.
  • Jenn's brownies.
  • Lunch with Jenn between working at Hamot in the morning and church in the afternoon.
  • Praying with Jenn.
  • Laughing with them was an olympic sport.
  • Feeling the burn in my thighs sitting on their wobbly kitchen chairs.
  • Pasta salad and bread (or...pasta, salad and bread).
  • Love, love, love.
  • Their example of marriage.
How it shaped me:
  • Jenn literally held my hand and walked me through my relationship with Dave. She taught me how to pray for my husband, love him better, and be a good wife.
  • Our marriage exists because they were in our lives at the exact right moment.
